In 2017, all eyes turned to Jordan Peele and his directorial debut Get Out. While it’s a horror film, Get Out touches upon a slew of racial issues in the country. The movie earned four Oscar nominations, including Best Director and Best Picture. Peele joined a rare club of directors gaining a Best Director nomination for their directorial debut. Get Out gained an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. The movie gained $255.4 million against a $4.5 million budget.
