2008’s Slumdog Millionaire is one of the most acclaimed indie films of all time. The film follows a teenager accused of cheating on India’s equivalent of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Slumdog Millionaire won eight Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director. It became the eighth film to walk away with eight Oscars. It also swept the Golden Globes with four wins. At the box office, it accumulated $377.89 million against a $15 million budget.
