Battlefield Earth
In the ’90s, John Travolta saw a resurgence with Pulp Fiction, Get Shorty, and Face/Off. Battlefield Earth nearly wrecked his career. Critics had a field day going after this movie. Following the film’s release, production company Franchise Pictures went bankrupt. Months after Battlefield Earth‘s release, Travolta wanted to do a sequel. “The bottom line is that I feel really good about it. Here I was taking big chances, breaking a new genre I am so thrilled, believe it or not, at the outcome because I didn’t believe I could get it done,” he told The Guardian. With a huge financial loss, a sequel to Battlefield Earth never happened.
