The One Laptop Per Child Project is a nonprofit that hopes to provide inexpensive laptops to children who live in the developing world. It was a bold attempt to connect third-world countries to the World Wide Web. What they did not consider was the fact that even inexpensive laptops are typically too expensive for people in third world countries. Not to mention, the additional equipment it takes to connect them to the Internet to properly utilize the benefits of a laptop.
