Cell phones are amazing things. They let us communicate with almost anyone from almost anywhere, but we often have to pay a high price for this facility, literally. Calling long distance domestically can be extremely expensive, but this is as nothing when you compare it to the cost of calling international, and it is even worse if you are already abroad and calling to another country which isn’t your home country. The cell phone companies know that you need to be able to communicate with your cell phone and that when the heat is on you won’t necessarily think about using a cheaper option, such as a land line phone, to make that call. Worst of all, if you are abroad, you don’t need to make a single call in order to rack up a huge bill. You will be charged quite a lot just for receiving calls abroad, which could also be a necessary evil if you need to be informed about new developments back home.
