people are unaware of the fact that career coaching can really help them to get
a job. In fact career coaching is necessary to get a job that can give you
satisfaction. If travel journalism interests you, naturally you won’t be
willing to become a software developer. A career coach will help you to
understand your hidden potential and will suggest you what job can meet your
skills. That is not the only benefit of hiring a career coach. He or she can
help you to wreck an interview as well.
After
you have put all efforts and submitted your CV in different organizations now
its time to face the interview and grab the job opportunity. Here are a few
tips that your career coach can advice you to make it a winning interview.
Be Confident: You are an expert
in your field, isn’t it? So, be confident and convey the message that your
knowledge and skill can be quite beneficial for the company. Just assume the
interview to be a formality before getting the job.
Gather Information: When you are going
for an interview, make sure that you know enough about the company. Your
employer would be impressed to find that you take much interest in his company.
So gather information about the organization’s mission, its branches, type of
business, future planning etc.
Planning: Many people ignore
this but it is important to plan how you will communicate with the interviewer.
In most cases the interviewer will try to criticize your presentation. So
rehears well before you meet the interviewer. Otherwise you can keep stammering
on the spot which will leave a negative impression.
Be Punctual: Being late for an
interview is a No No if you are serious about getting the job. This shows your
negligence and lack of respect for the organization. Never arrive late for an
interview. Punctuality is a must have quality for a job seeker.
Dress Code: When you are
arriving for an interview remember that you are basically selling a total
package i.e. you. You should be presentable from the very moment you enter the
interview premises. Maintain a formal dress code if you are not too sure that
the environment is casual. Business attire should be your first choice.
Be Pleasant: Try to make a
favorable impression not only on the interviewer but everyone you meet starting
from the receptionist. Concentrate on the questions of the interviewer and
maintain an eye contact. Be firm and walk briskly, don’t lean while you sit. Avoid
cold handshake. It is crucial to be courteous to everyone.
Ask Questions: Remember, an
interview is a both way deal. You have every right to ask questions about work
hours, employee facilities, appraisal timing, times off and other benefits that
you expect from the company.
Transparency: Being transparent
is crucial. Don’t lie about your qualification or previous job experience. Even
if you don’t have a good experience in your previous organization, try to avoid
making negative comments about it.
Career coaching can teach you much
more than this and it will ensure that you get the job opportunity. If you are
not satisfied with your present job or just looking to start your career,
hiring a career coach can help you a lot.
