One of the main
reasons why people purchase laptop computers is because they are portable and
able to be used pretty much anywhere. There is only one small problem with this
idea, at some point you will need to be near the mains to charge up the
battery. If you’re nowhere near the mains or have forgotten your charger then
you then every minute counts until your laptop battery eventually runs out. Below
are just a few pieces of advice when trying to preserve the life of your
battery.
Drain the battery regularly
Your battery can
suffer from capacity degradation and, if constantly left on charge, the battery
doesn’t realise the limit of what it is capable of. By running the battery
completely flat once every month and then recharging the battery to the max,
this will hopefully help the battery last a lot longer.
Batteries hate the heat
In general,
laptops don’t really like extremely hot conditions as it makes the internal fan
work overtime to try and cool the components, which obviously has an effect on
the battery life. Hot conditions are also terrible for the battery itself as it
can really degrade the battery rapidly.
Keep the battery in
Taking the
battery out regularly is never a good idea as it can add to the wear and tear
on the computer and attract more dirt onto the battery and inside the battery
compartment. This can lead to further battery corrosion amongst other problems.
Turn the light down
The brightness of
a laptop screen can really drain the battery, especially as computer screens
are getting more powerful and brighter. By reducing the brightness of the
screen when your battery is running out quickly will help preserve the battery
life for a little longer.
Over time, it is
inevitable that your laptop battery is going to drain quicker and your notebook
computer will get slower but help is at hand. EuroPC offer a wide range of
