Poker Variations
The first variation we will discuss is Five Card Stud.  It was one of the earliest variations of Stud Poker, and is not very commonly played in the USA, although it is popular in some parts of Europe.  The main difference in Five Card Stud poker is that the players are dealt one card face down, and one face up – then betting begins, and poker online players are dealt more cards, one at a time, face up.

Texas Hold’em and Omaha Hold’em are examples of ‘community card games’ – these are games where players combine the cards from their own hand with shared ‘community cards’ that can count towards the hand of all the players.

The main difference between Texas Hold’em and Omaha Hold’em is that in Omaha Hold’em the player’s final hand must include two of the players four cards, and three of the table’s five cards.

Most online casino sites offer several variations of poker – the most basic is Five Card Draw, but others include Stud Poker, Omaha Hold’em, and Texas Hold’em.  The differences between the various poker games will be explained here.

There are other variations of poker, some of which use different card ranking to normal, but these are not discussed here are you are unlikely to encounter them in an online casino.
