Regardless of location, the general population of Canadians agree that weddings are a life changing event in the life of any Canadian from all walks of life. Being the second largest country in the world, Canada plays host to various types of wedding styles from the arcane to the most current type of wedding. Nonetheless it is the guests consisting of friends and kinfolk which will brighten up the celebrations and make it unforgettable.
From the ancient times of the European kings and nobles favours in the form of almond sweets or “bonboniere” were handed out to guests of the ceremony. This gesture of giving has remained a part of the wedding culture and is now a must for all wedding parties. These gifts are the extra special meaningful touch that will warm the cockles of your guests and open their hearts to you. These gifts will show your gratitude to them for attending your wedding.
Before the bride takes the plunge, a bridal shower is planned by the bridesmaid to celebrate the last days of her single-hood. Normally this shower is only attended by the bride’s closest friend but it is not unusual for some immigrant communities in Canada to plan a full scale shower, inviting some 300 guests for celebration. Bridal showers are normally held four to six weeks before the wedding.
It is customary for a bridal shower to be held before a marriage, this is thought out and planned by the bridesmaid as a way to celebrate the end of the bride’s bachelorhood. The invitations are normally limited to best buddies but it is not uncommon in some foreign Canadian communities to hold a large gathering with up to 300 guests. These events are normally held 2 to 3 months prior to the actual wedding.
With that gone and done with, it is time to focus on the main event itself. The wedding! Except for booking the hotel, sending out invitation cards, getting bridesmaid, picking the right gown, checking the hotel if they have a restaurant for the wedding dinner, the guests are expecting something to be taken home. It is acceptable to have favours that are given out for the bridal shower to be given out for those who did not attend it, but it would not be very nice for that close friend of yours to receive two iden
tical candles for your weddings, isn’t it? There are a lot of other choices, literally hundreds, to choose from.
In some parts of the world, small slices of fruit cakes packed in a box are given out during the wedding dinner. The newly wed may also bestow the guests with their happily ever after faces framed in a tiny thank you picture frame. The next favours which are quite popular in contrary are place card holders. It functions as, well, to hold the little cards which has your name on it which are placed on your assigned seats. However, it has now evolved into different adorable looking pieces of art which can be taken home and kept as a memory of the wedding. Mints make great favours when they are stored in handsome glass bottles or tin cases in the shape of the bride and the groom. If you want to make a great impact and make sure your guests will remember them, there is a new technology in the market when all you do is just submit a picture of the couple to the designer. He will then transform a slab of clay into a lifelike figure of both the bride and groom.
The most appropriate favour that you could possibly lay into your guests hands have to one that has received a personal touch. Personalized handmade wedding staitionaries make an excellent gift for those inclined towards arts and crafts (and also for those who are not). The natural produce from plants such as fruits also makes a prime favour. Should you decide on an outdoor wedding the contrast in colors such the red of apples, green of pears and purple of peaches offset on the white dining cloth will surely mesmerize your guest as sure as the breeze blowing in their hair.
Holding a wedding in Canada is a boon as there are plenty of breathtaking natural locations within the country with which to hold a wedding. Canada also hosts some of the most unique flora that can be arranged into some beautiful favours. The maple leaf which incidentally is the emblem of Canada is a prime example. By drying and compressing them between books they turn into beautiful decorations. These dried leaves can be pasted onto thank you cards or be used as bookmarks. They can also be preserved in wax and handed out to both friends and kin.
Kate Aspen Canada offers one of the worlds best looking favours. They have plenty of unique favours to suit any occasion and simply turn your wedding around with its little gifts that are simply marvelous.
