Sony claims that the PS3 is the most advanced gaming system ever made. It offers advanced games and graphics and it also includes a built-in Blu-ray disc player making it an all-around entertainment system. The PS3 utilises a revolutionary new microprocessor that is around 40 times faster than the previous PS2. The PS3 market is already offering a number of accessories with more anticipated. So which oif them will be useful to you?
SIXAXIS Wireless Controller
The SIXAXIS wireless controller allows players to use their own movements to control the game movements. This highly sensitive motion sensing system effectively becomes an extension of the player’s body. Using Bluetooth technology the SIXAXIS can be used wireless or wired if desired. The new design slightly alters the shape of the L2/R2 buttons to allow ease of play and more control. The PS3 supports up to seven SIXAXIS wireless controllers and uses a USB port to recharge at any time.
PS3 Bluetooth Headset
The PS3 Bluetooth Headset allows you to be hands free so you can talk and play at the same time or enjoy an interactive game. The noise-reducing and echo-eliminating microphone allows for clear, crisp conversation and what’s more, you can use the headset with any Bluetooth enabled device such as a mobile phone, computer or PDA.
PS3 Blu-Ray Disc Remote Control
The PS3 uses the latest Blu-ray technology with a built-in Blu-ray disc player. You can use the PS3 as an entertainment centre to play movies as well as to
record photos, home videos and music libraries. The PS3 Blu-Ray Disc Remote Control allows you to easily play media from anywhere in the room with a touch of the button.
HDMI Cable
If you are in the privileged position of owning an High Definition (HD) television or monitor, you can connect your PS3 system to your HD display via this special HDMI cable. The cable is designed to carry digital signals from the source to the display. It also uses the connection to carry digital audio signals providing the best possible sound from the system. This will help to maximise the higher resolution graphics to be found in the new generation of PS3 games.
PS3 S-Video Cable
The next best thing to High Definition, the S-Video Cable provides an analogue connection between the PS3 and the monitor or television. It uses materials that are designed to protect the signal from interference and loss. You will find 24-carat gold-plated ends and OFC (oxygen-free copper) coating for the best possible connection. One end of the cable comes equipped with a Playstation A/V connector while the other end has an S-Video connector with stereo audio. The PS3 S-Video cable can support up to 480i standard resolution using an analogue signal.
Conclusion
The new PS3 is both an advanced gaming machine and a fairly comprehensive media device. Depending upon the resolution of your television, together with your own gaming preferences, there are a number of accessories that may well prove useful. Since the PS3 has only recently launched, it is reasonable to assume that many more aftermarket accessories will appear over the next year or so.
